Mandrogui Aug 30

David wakes up with a relapse and we are again thankful for the medicine given to him by Sandy. I went up for exerciseclass. It is cooler today and raining. I chatted after class with Polly from Australia. They are planning a trip to the western US so I gave her our card and invited them to stop to see us.
After breakfast, we go tothecabin to nap. It is a chilly, dreary sleepy day-can't be out side.
We arrive at our port at 11 am. This is described as a "lovely green stop and open-air museum. Wander ashore for a closer look at a rural settlement." No organized tours. The ship's crew is preparing a "bar B Q" meal for lunch on shore in one of the large covered pavillions. There is a cluster of buildings which hold different types of crafts-like pottery, woodworkers and blacksmith. We can watch the artisans work and have opportunity to shop for their wares. It is still raining off and on and the paths have puddles. We find our lunch site and are served good food. We watch the cooks at the huge stoves they are using.
As we head back to the ship, we are delayed from boarding as there is an ambulance is parked and paramedics are going onboard. We do not learn the problem, but finally are allowed to board. Tha'ts a good thing because it is raining hard now. This afternoon is my final Russian language class and we have a test! But it is open-book, so I get and A plus and receive a diploma. Hooray! This class has been interactive and fun. For example, we learned "Kak Dela", which means  "How are you?" Mila, the instructor, suggested saying "car dealer" very quickly to get approximately the pronunciation. I met Zee, a woman from Chicago, who has taken the class very seriously and practices. She and I have been study partners, and we smile and greet each other when we meet in the hall or dining room.
I dress up for the Captain's dinner. It was served with fancy linens and dishware. There is champaign for a toast, and even red caviar as a part of the appetizer and baked Alaska for dessert. The servers wore military style uniforms. We had planned to go to the talent show tonight as David is tired of staying in the room, but by showtime he is not feeling well again, so we just got ready for bed.
