Russian customs and behavior

Just a few observations:

Many young Russian women dress in mini skirts and high heels. It is common practice to wear scarves around the neck-not necessisarily even color-coordinated, but wrapped loosely in a pile, maybe with an end dangling.
While many hair styles can be seen, most women wear their hair very long, even past their waist. It may hang loose, or sometimes the hair is braided in a variety of styles. One popular style is a french braid laying flat against the scalp, but which wraps completely around the head, forming a sort of crown.
Women seem to be recognized as equals, even in history. We saw paintings and statues which showed women working or fighting side by side with men.
It seems acceptable to publicly display affection. Couples everywhere hold hands, embrace, and kiss passionately.
We saw more than 30 wedding parties. This is because the custom is for the wedding party and guests to ride in limos around the city to prominent places, pile out for photos and drinking and eating, then back into the limos to drive to another prominent place, then get out for photos. With all these wedding parties seemingly on a round robin of the same sites which the tourists are visiting, it is almost as if they were performing for us. We saw a full fashion show of styles of wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, and the dresses of guests. We heard champaign corks popping and saw people handing out meat pies and other goodies from large white bakery-style boxes.
